Yoga and Meditation Classes
in Yorkshire, UK and Online
I am a British Wheel of Yoga teacher based in Ilkley, UK. I teach a variety of virtual and in person yoga and meditation classes, workshops and courses. I have over 30 years of experience in different schools of yoga, and meditation styles and techniques, and am a keen student of yoga and Buddhist philosophy.
Like many of us, I have practised yoga on and off over the years. In 2018, I went to a life changing retreat with the nuns and monks at Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village, Bordeaux. This started my Buddhist path. In 2019, I studied the British wheel of Yoga Foundation 1 course under teacher Susie Dennis, and went onto study Foundation 2 in 2020. Inspired by Susie's teachings, in 2021 (at the age of 50), I began a British Wheel of Yoga 500 hour Diploma in Teaching Yoga with Jayadhara of Moonrise Yoga that I completed in October 2023.
My hatha yoga derives from (and I am very grateful to) the Satyananda and Krishnamacharya schools of yoga, my yoga teachers and the lineage of teachers before them.
I love teaching yoga and sharing the tremendous benefits that yoga and Buddhist philosophy can bring to us all, at any age and for wherever you are at in your wellness journey.
The concept of the infinite is embedded in yoga and Buddhist philosophy. The infinity symbol is a mathematical figure of 8, denoting the unlimited, endless and unbounded. In yoga and Buddhism, we become aware of our true nature which is unlimited, endless and unbound. We are limited by our thoughts and the reactions of our nervous system to believe we are separate from nature and each other. This causes suffering.
Yoga and meditation practices - when practiced in the traditional way - can bring much comfort and peace. This is because we reconnect to ourselves and develop an awareness of who we are. Through effort and patience we uncover the true love and joy that is within our heart.
I am a qualified British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) instructor, having completed the BWY Diploma in 2023. This rigorous training involved over 500 hours of study in anatomy, philosophy, and more, ensuring that you receive high-quality instruction from a dedicated teacher.
